Attendance at Viewley Hill Academy is very important; it is vital that all children attend school each day and that absence only occurs in serious circumstances. Learning is built upon each day and gaps in learning will make children feel uncertain.

We expect attendance at Viewley Hill Academy to be excellent and at least in line with national expectations. We work hard to reduce the number of absences and expect the attendance and punctuality of the children to be excellent throughout the year.  We reward attendance and punctuality with regular treats and parties which the children love!

Viewley Hill is required to complete registers of children’s attendance every session (morning and afternoon) and any absence must be recorded. Therefore it is essential that you inform us if your child is absent for any reason, preferably by telephoning the school office (01642 591 053). Mrs Moore, the Parent Support Adviser for school, will contact parents of any child who is absent without reason.  A home visit may also be made if it has not been possible to make telephone contact. Persistent absence or absence that has deteriorated will be referred to our Attendance Officer, Mrs Cartwright, and may lead to legal action.

Medical appointments should be made outside of school time wherever possible.

Please note that from September 2013, in accordance with changes to the school attendance regulations, Viewley Hill will no longer authorise holidays in term time except in exceptional circumstances.  Please follow this link for further information:
